LEON’S SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS INC.

It seemed absurd to her.

‘You think I should have one security camera to cover the entrance and then a second security camera to cover the first camera?’

‘Exactly.’

‘Why?’

‘In case the first security camera is tampered with. That way you’ll see them do it.’

‘Okay,’ she paused. ‘But what if they tamper with the second security camera so that we don’t see them tampering with the first camera?’

Leon thought for a moment. ‘Perhaps you need a third camera to cover the second camera? But then what’s to stop them tampering with the third camera?’

She thought for a moment: ‘What if, instead of covering the entrance, the first security camera covered the second camera, the second camera covered the third one and the third camera covered the first one. That way all the cameras are being covered, so no one can tamper with them.’

‘Good idea, but what about the entrance, there would be no camera covering that?’

‘I could put a guard on the entrance.’

‘You would need a security camera to cover the guard.’

Later, with all twenty-five security cameras installed, Leon rubbed his aching back. Another profitable day for Leon’s Surveillance Cameras Inc.

  5. Pretty funny and totally believable. Some salesmen are crafty that way. Our neighbors put a camera in their window so they could “catch” our son playing basketball in our driveway because they said the ball kept hitting their house. Even called the police once. Perhaps they called Leon. Glad they moved 🙂

  6. I enjoyed this Ian; it’s a clever take on the prompt. Imagine how much Leon could make it he got a contract with a public sector organisation (I say this as a former public sector employee).

  8. Wow such a trickster. Than again, I remember a phrase “Ignorence is no excuse for Stupidity”and I think that very much describes his lady customer. So I Some Way, you cantblane the guy for taking advantage of her ignorance resulting in a stupid purchase of 25 cameras. Great write Ian! I hope you and your family are doing well!
