They stood outside the wire fence. The assistant from the law firm gave him an smile.

That morning he had experienced one last lie-in, then headed for a shower. He dropped the soap at one point, pausing as he bent over to pick it up and recalling the numerous jokes made about such a thing happening in prison.

Well, he would soon find out if they were true or not. The gates shuddered back on automatic rollers.

‘Remember it’s only a few months,’ the office junior encouraged him.

‘Sure, kid.’ He walked through the gate and it closed behind him. He couldn’t explain to him that he had only committed tax fraud to gain access.

If only he hadn’t gotten greedy with The Family’s finances.

He saw that grin and scarred jowls as they told him what would happen: ‘We gotta problem. Falconi is talking too much. You go in, you take him out, and we’ll make sure you are looked after in prison and your wife and kids will be comfortable outside.’

The disgusting laugh still echoed around his head as the prison warden asked him to strip naked.
