Must get that loose top step fixed, she thought, as she walked up to her front door.

As always she had to force the key in. Must get that lock seen to by a locksmith before it jams completely.

She pushed the door open, seeing the boarded up diamond of mint-green. Must get that piece of glass replaced.

As she stumbled over loose shoes, coats and bags in the hallway she remembered she had that coat rack to put up and the tidying to do.

In the bedroom she changed into comfortable clothes picked from the bundle lying on the floor, turning her back on the unfinished walls – three painted in white undercoat, only one completed in soothing blue. Must get the bedroom decorating finished.

Must get the dishes done, she thought, as she searched for the one remaining clean glass.

She popped the bottle of wine open and settled down in front of the television for the evening. She began to de-stress.

She soon forgot about the litany of chores that needed attended to. Maybe next week.
