THE TO-DO LIST

Must get that loose top step fixed, she thought, as she walked up to her front door.

As always she had to force the key in. Must get that lock seen to by a locksmith before it jams completely.

She pushed the door open, seeing the boarded up diamond of mint-green. Must get that piece of glass replaced.

As she stumbled over loose shoes, coats and bags in the hallway she remembered she had that coat rack to put up and the tidying to do.

In the bedroom she changed into comfortable clothes picked from the bundle lying on the floor, turning her back on the unfinished walls – three painted in white undercoat, only one completed in soothing blue. Must get the bedroom decorating finished.

Must get the dishes done, she thought, as she searched for the one remaining clean glass.

She popped the bottle of wine open and settled down in front of the television for the evening. She began to de-stress.

She soon forgot about the litany of chores that needed attended to. Maybe next week.

  1. Sounds like my to-do’s! Only I play in my craft room instead of drinking wine and watching TV 🙂

So many items to do, I think that I would open a bottle of whisky or maybe two.

  8. I can relate to that story Iain….. finish the current craft project, eight weeks until Christmas – get the cards made, prune the lavender, take clothes you no longer wear to charity, write some more of your autobiography and the list goes on…lol 🙂

  12. I have a sturdy list of To Dos and my wife is really dedicated to reminding me of them in case I forget! I think as a rule we like to know there is something left for us to do, although in this case it seems her list is becoming unwieldy!

  13. This sounds like me – sans wine! Always something I’m looking at that I should do, and yet I still plonk my bum down in front of the laptop instead! Nice, slightly bleak and grubby atmosphere.
Congrats on the upcoming book release – very exciting – let me know if there’s anything I can do to spread the word.
P.S. Just popped along to Amazon – my paper back version is ordered and on its way! Looking forward to reading it Iain 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Lynn, I think you are officially the first order received! Do let me know what you think of it, my first attempt at a novel-length story (that I managed to finish!). After endless re-editing and a few agent rejections I decided to publish, or it would just sit there unread forever. I’m happy with it, some bits more than others, I hope you will enjoy it too. I will do a blog post on Saturday for the kindle launch, so if you want to share that around I would be eternally grateful. And do feel free to put an Amazon review on, good or bad! Thanks again and if you ever need the favour returned do let me know 👍😀 Now I have a long to do list of my own to get on with!

      1. My pleasure Iain – and I’m the first? I like that 🙂 I thought the cover design was very good, so kudos to you for that and I read the first couple of pages and the blurb and had to buy it. I always enjoy your writing anyway. Well done you for getting that file off the hard drive and into the world – I have three unpublished novels and a novella hiding on my laptop, so I’m impressed you did it all yourself. Good luck with it all and I’ll look out for Saturday’s post.

      2. I would happily pay to read something longer from you Lynn, I do hope you manage to find a way to get them out into the world. Glad you liked the cover, that was a frustrating evening of Photoshop work 🙂

      3. Ah, thank you, Iain. I have my Urban Fantasy out to beta readers at the moment and so far feedback is positive. So you never know – one day, I might just find a publisher. Thanks so much for your support!
