CHAMBERMAID

Typical politician. One night he stayed, left the place a mess.

Still, that’s what she was paid for – get the room ready for the next guest.

Only the Minimum Wage though. Suppose she should be thankful to him for upping that in the last budget.

Useless though, the lot of them. And now, another election. She certainly wouldn’t vote for him, probably wouldn’t bother voting at all.

She picked up the single empty glass – no scandal to be found here.

Then she saw it. A satchel, stuffed with documents.

She started rifling through pages. Her eyes widened. Suddenly, the fate of the country was there in her hands.

      1. True story. Not helped by the pundits and commentators (and tabloids) trying to make a very nuanced issue into something black and white, good and bad.

  1. The briefcase – contains the heart of the man it belongs to. I always find it fascinating to see inside one… Men, they have more things in their briefcase than a woman carries in her purse…and that’s saying something! hehe!

  2. I see your MC relishes a general election about as much as the rest of us do! Though I doubt she’ll find anything in the satchel tht will surprise – most of us think our politicians are capable of any low act! Great twist on the prompt, Iain

  3. A story from the chambermaid’s perspective – what a great take on the prompt! Her discovery of the secret documents reminds me of the former Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier’s resignation after having left sensitive documents at his ex-girlfriend’s place.
