THE BRIDE’S PARENTS

Agnes was getting all the sympathy.

Each friend that popped round to see her with flowers and fruit and chocolates gave Archie the same look – a shake of the head, a sigh and raised eyebrows.

True, Agnes had her ankle strapped up and needed crutches to get around (although Archie was sure she was milking that).

No one cared about his bruised toes and ankles, or the pain in his back every time he stood up, or the scratches on his back and neck. He was convinced he’d slipped a disc.

It was a miracle no one else on the dance floor had been injured.

  1. Sounds like he’s due more sympathy than he’s getting. This could turn nasty with Agnes afterwards

    1. Just a little bit of sympathy is all he’s looking for. Deep down Agnes knows she was just as much at fault as he was! Thanks Neil

It’s murder on the dance floor.
Apart from that, how did Archie enjoy the wedding?

  6. Dear Iain,

Fiction mirrors true life here. My best friend broke her ankle a couple of months ago dancing at her daughter’s wedding. So I had a good laugh at your story. 😉

    Shalom,

  15. Poor Archie, he’ll just have to suffer in silence, it looks like everyone has made their minds up who was at fault.

    1. Perhaps he’s learned that suffering in silence is the best way to deal with Agnes! Thanks James.

  23. Poor Archie missing out on the sympathetic attention. I’m curious however about the raised eyebrows. Was this in fact a dance floor collision or something else? Good story Iain.
