IN A SPIN

He tried to contain his temper as he repeated the same argument into the telephone.

‘I stood in the store with your sales representative and pointed out the exact model I wanted.’

‘And that’s the model you have,’ the manager explained.

‘Yes, but in white, not pink. Pink doesn’t match the rest of my kitchen. Everything is white apart from this pink washing machine.’

‘But I see from the order history there was an amendmnet to the pink model.’

‘I didn’t make any change!’

‘No, it was made by someone else. Agnes is it? I can’t read the signature.’

Archie turned.

‘Let a little colour into your life,’ she said.

  6. Dear Iain,

Too funny. I’m not sure I’d want a pink washing machine (or even a purple one ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

  9. A few months ago, our washing machine went “toes up” in the most spectacular way, dumping tons of water all over the floor. We decided to buy a new washer and dryer. The dryer is “haunted.” It turns its controls on randomly. We had the motherboard changed out, but it didn’t change anything. If the dryer in the prompt weren’t a toy, I might have written about the “Haunted Clothes Dryer.”

    1. I reckon you could still tell that story, James. Hope it starts to behave!

    2. I had almost the exact same thing happen, except my dryer turns off by itself. It goes for 10-15 minutes, then turns off. It takes all day to get a load dry.

  15. I haven’t read an Agnes-Archie adventure in ages. Of course, it’s my fault as I have been away from blogging for a good while. That being said, a dash of pink or blue would only add to the white.

  17. Oh! This is fun. It kind of reflects our lives these days, with the bathroom remodel finished just this December. Although nothing we ordered came in the wrong color.

  19. LOL! Yep, I can totally see it happening. A pair of friends who shall not be named had something similar happen with a NEON GREEN toaster on a very ‘minimalist’ (read: boring monochrome) kitchen counter. ๐Ÿ˜€ Hey, it is still better than having all his undergarments somehow ‘become’ pinked by an ‘errant’ sock. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  24. I can’t get over the washing machine in the kitchen. I think the laundry room is one vast improvement we’ve made over here. Separate whites and colors. Separate undies and dinner.

I’m with Agnes on the need for color, and with Archie on the need to match. It’s a delicate balance.
