BOOK REVIEW: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UNDECIDED by LAURIE BELL

The Blurb:

Everyone – the good, the bad and the undecided – has a story.

While Toni Delle is crisscrossing the sector, investigating a criminal empire intent on war, other members of the White Fire world are busy with their own endeavours. The businessman closing a treasonous deal that will bring conflict to the galaxy. The politician giving the biggest speech of her career in the shadow of an assassin. The smuggler who can’t be trusted, desperate for redemption. The Good, the Bad and the Undecided is a collection of twelve short stories set during the thrilling events of White Fire – A Toni Delle Adventure. A cast of guns-for-hire, undercover agents, revolutionaries and rogues reveal their part in Toni’s adventures. Because everyone – the good, the bad and the undecided – has a story.

The Review:

‘The Good, the Bad and The Undecided’ is a great addition to Laurie Bell’s novel ‘White Fire.’ It consists of a collection of short stories and scenes involving characters and events covered in the original book, expanding and adding detail to the background of ‘White Fire’ and the collection of heroes, villains and others, some of whom we have met before. Rather than being standalone stories, each short narrative interweaves cleverly with the others. It’s a great idea, although I would highly recommend reading ‘White Fire’ first to get the most out of this anthology. The writing is excellent, and Bell has a clear vision of the world she has created and the different lives within it. And on top of that, it’s really good fun, with loads of humour and action along the way. A definite must for lovers of sci-fi. I hope there will be more from this series in the future.

Summary: A great idea, really well executed, that expands on the original book and adds new layers and whole lot of fun.
