‘It’s three in the afternoon and you’re listening to Gold Radio, the home of classic rock. We’re back with our special guests Steel Dragons. Great to have you here guys.’
‘Thank you. Great to be here.’
‘Thirty years since you’ve toured Australia. A lot has happened since then.’
‘Yeah, back then we were just starting out, no idea where our journey would take us.’
‘What a journey it’s been. Sex and drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. And your doing a greatest hits tour, is that right?’
‘That’s right. All our Aussie fans can finally hear the big hits.’
‘Is it right that all those years ago you had two steel dragons on stage with you?’
‘We did, wow, remember them.’
‘It got to the end of the tour and we had no money left to get back to England. We couldn’t afford to transport these huge sculptures by ship, so we sold them to a local scrapyard.’
‘Paid for our airfare home.’
‘I wonder whatever happened to them.’

I have been staring at that image trying to figure out what to do with it. Looks like you had no difficulty at all. Great job.

Great story! I often wonder what happens to old promotional sculptures and things they make for tours and movies.

There must be a junkyard or a warehouse somewhere with all these old stage sets piled up.

I liked your take on the prompt Iain. It’s prompted me to wonder where some of the old rockers (rather than their props) are now – maybe driving fork-lifts at a scrapyard or selling scented candles in the Lake District.

They must be out there somewhere, perhaps playing ’70s disco nights and holiday parks 🙂

Thanks for the idea and link to the FFfAW. I also gave this prompt a shot. BTW, I would totally listen to a hair metal band called Steel Dragons.

You’re welcome, thanks for reading and commenting – it sounds like a good 70s rock band name to me 🙂

Probably worth a bit more now too.

Yep. Fortunately, they seem to be at the height of their careers so I’m sure they can afford it.

I found myself almost believing your story ( even though the dragons are right near the house I grew up!) lol. Great take!

Thank you – I’m sure there must some old music bands who have similar stories in real life!

Gosh, one could only hope they could get them back after a greatest hits album. Now I’m trying to imagine what “Steel Dragons” sounds like. Anything like AC/DC?

Definitely an AC/DC style – maybe more Spinal Tap…!

Iain, the wizard of words.🙂
Great story and I know one more band name now. Thanks.

Thank you – I might keep that name! It would be a great name for a band if no one has used it before now 🙂
