IAIN KELLY

YEARNING

The app told him that she had seen the message. He stared at the screen but nothing happened. He could see that she was online. Why wasn’t she replying?

Now he felt like an idiot. He should never have sent her the message in the first place. What would he say next time he saw her in work? Should he mention the message? Should he just pretend like he had never sent it?

He flicked the ‘phone off. A minute later he flicked it on again. Still no reply.

What was he doing? Why was he acting like this? This had been going on for too long. How long had they been friends now? He flicked the’phone off again and walked along the beach a little.

He flicked the ‘phone on again. Nothing.

Enough. Stop acting like this. In frustration he threw his ‘phone into the water. As it floated through the air he heard the unmistakable beep of a message arriving on the app, before the it splashed into the sea.

I think he may just have to go and talk to her face to face to get his answer. 🙂

Talk about bad timing. Of course, he gets a reply when he tosses the phone into the sea. Poor guy.

Some people have no patience Iain! What a waste of a phone. Hope it was water resistant!

Love it. The modern version of picking up to make sure we had a dial tone.

Yep! Staring at the phone and vowing NOT to pick it up, only to pick it up 2 minutes later and check for that darn dial tone. Cursing Ma Bell for working 😉

Ha, that’ll teach him. Although I sympathize with the obsessive phone checking at times like that. Technology has made us lose our ability to be patient.

Grat story that illustrates clearly how we seem to expect every moment and everyone around us to react in an instant. What happened to peace and solitude?

Poor guy. Patience is truly a virtue that not many of us have. I hope things work out for him, though. Nice one, Iain.

It seems to be harder in the modern world to be patient, with technology especially.
