IAIN KELLY

EVE

The monster haunted her every dream.

A giant, ten-feet high, with blue glowing eyes and long willowy tendrils.

It came for her through the fire and smoke, a vision of Hell surrounded by the dead.

She knew why it came for her. It knew she was vulnerable, a victim, an easy target that it could torment and devour. She had to make it stop. She had to fight back.

That morning she woke up covered in sweat, her breathing fast and shallow.

The panic subsided. No more would she let the monster beat her.

She drove to the hardware store and bought an axe, then she drove home and sat in her chair and waited.

She heard the footsteps coming up the driveway and onto the porch. She picked up her axe and hid behind the door.

She heard the front door open, his footsteps along the hallway.

‘Hey Evie, I’m home,’ the monster called.

She swung the axe as the blue eyes appeared. She felled the monster.

His head rolled across the wooden floor. Blood sprayed across the room.

Eve had slain the monster.

Ooops… There is something about Eve, and she needs an axe about as much as Lizzie Borden does…

Will she be found innocent though?

If she follows Lizzie’s footsteps, uhm, actually, I think we should go for the Insanity plea here…

Perhaps, or perhaps he is innocent and it is all in her head…

Wow, that poor woman is deluded to say the least. Unless he really is a monster – real or human – and deserves every chop he gets. Lots of questions. Great pic too, Iain

Thanks Lynn, I left it ambiguous, interesting to see who believes in her nightmare and who doesn’t!
