He decided: from now on, whatever it was, he was going to do it voraciously. That’s what they said about all these successful people: Musk and Jobs and Bezos, they were obsessives and workaholics. Work hard, play hard. That was how to get ahead.
So he would work longer hours and stop taking breaks and vacations.
But it wasn’t just work, he needed to commit to everything.
If he was eating out, he’d always order large and extra sides.
If he was watching TV, he’d binge watch the entire series in a day.
If he was reading a book, he’d finish it in one sitting, no matter if it was ‘War and Peace’.
Taking up running? Then he’d do a marathon.
Online shopping – spend, spend spend.
Gambling – high rollin’, all in, with high stakes and long odds.
Sex and drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. All of it.
He’d keep going until there was nothing left. Until he was spent.
That’s what he decided.
Then he rolled over and went back to sleep. He’d start with sleeping. He was a voracious sleeper.
