I had a red sky behind me. The sun dipping away, ending another day. A good day, a better day. Bridges had been built, past mistakes put aside.
I got back to my apartment and sat in the darkness. Tomorrow he would return and we would try again. He had forgiven me, again. I had promised it wouldn’t happen again, again.
Looking at the fire in the sky, I could feel the devil rising once more. The fire of desire, passion, deceit.
He would come back and I would want more. The red sky flickered, a reflection in my devious eyes.
