IAIN KELLY

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

‘She’s at it again.’

‘You’re going to get yourself in trouble. Get away from the window.’

‘She can’t see us. If she could she would draw her curtains.’

‘Who is it this time?’

‘Another man. Don’t recognise him, must be a new client.’

‘At least it isn’t a woman. The things she does with them.’

‘She’s bringing the tone of the neighbourhood right down.’

‘Let me see. Dear me, that is disgraceful.’

‘To think he’s actually paying to have that done to him. It’s like a form of punishment.’

‘You have to assume he asked for it.’

‘Honestly, what man would ask for a dyed pink mullet cut?’

‘I guess we’re just not up with modern fashion.’

Written for Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields (more details HERE). The idea is to write a short story of 100 words based on the photo prompt (above).

I had my first signing event for All We Cannot Leave Behind at my local Waterstones store in East Kilbride at the weekend, and I was delighted with the turn out. A few books sold and lots of lovely feedback from readers. Something to make all the hard work worthwhile! And a little bit of local press coverage as well.

All We Cannot Leave Behind is available to order in paperback and ebook from all good booksellers. The State Trilogy and The Barra Boy are also still available.

Thanks Rochelle. The book launch was a very rewarding day.

As a bald man, I can say that one of the benefits is never having to worry about committing a hairstyle faux pas! 🙂
