Sad news to end the month on with the passing of Scottish author Peter May, only a week after I had finally got round to reading his best known work, The Blackhouse. That was in amongst four books by another crime writing Peter – Peter James – as I prepare to host an author event with him in October to help launch his latest Roy Grace novel (no. 22!) ‘Dead in Three, Two, One’. Those, plus a new Robert Harris, and another re-visit to a classic Pratchett Discworld book.

The Blackhouse – Peter May *****
Dead in Three, Two, One – Peter James *****
The Hawk is Dead – Peter James ***
Babes in the Woods – Graham Bartlett with Peter James *****
They Thought I Was Dead – Peter James ****
Lords & Ladies – Terry Pratchett *****
Agrippa – Robert Harris ***

Short reviews can be found on my Goodreads page.

The plan is to spend more of October and November writing, so there may be less reading time, plus gearing up for the Christmas period with a couple of events, and the launch of my own new book, ‘Hopeman’, early in 2027.
