Coming to the south of France had been the wisest choice of his life.
Retirement suited him, as did the Mediterranean sun, the walks along the coast, the relaxed pace of Medville and the wine.
He sipped the glass of rosé (given to him by the owner of the vineyard next door) and thanked his wife for her kind gift.
Her life insurance had bought the old villa. It still needed a lot of work but he was in no rush.
It was the location he had bought it for, only 200 metres from a small cove, an ideal spot for him to indulge in the one pastime he could not leave behind in his Scottish homeland.
So far no suspicion had fallen on him, the local police hadn’t linked the disappearances of the disparate individuals. Why should they? He chose carefully.
The sun reached it’s zenith. He moved inside. He still had a few hours before his evening guest would arrive, and everything was already prepared.
To pass the time he decided to write a new story, another delicious murder scene.
A little fiction he would tell the readers of his work, just a little fiction.
