ONE LAST WISTFUL LOOK

One last wistful look at the mist on the hillside before I go.

A deep breath in, filling my lungs with the fresh air. It is quiet, only the birdsong breaks the silence.

No one else is around this early in the morning. Others will come later for their turn.

For me, that’s it for today. Tomorrow I will be allowed out once again.

It’s been a year now. I enjoy my routine. Now, it’s back to the factory for my eighteen-hour shift.

Everyday we have to work hard to make up for the time lost during the virus. We must all do our part to resurrect the global economy.

I hope everyone is safe out there. We’re in lockdown here, but are allowed out once a day for exercise. I’m one of the few still travelling to work each day, in a largely empty building. Strange times.

My novels are available FREE as eBooks until 20th April from SMASHWORDS and BARNES & NOBLE. Follow the links below to pick up a copy – something to keep you entertained while we are all stuck in isolation.

  1. Oh My, I hope it doesn’t get this bad, but I know it is a reality. Things have greatly slowed down here too, but we aren’t on total lock down yet. With the nicer weather coming , I want to be able to be out and enjoy it!!
Stay well Iain, you and your family! And keep up the great writing!

    1. Thank you. It’s very strange as one of the few still going to work, and going for my daily jog, plus a little reading and writing – for me lock down is much like my normal routine!

    1. Ha! It has been strange watching so many of them discover the joys of things I do all the time like reading a book, going for a run or a walk… Perhaps it will change them!!

  2. Stay well, Iain. We have been “shelter in place” for almost two weeks now but I am able to walk the dog twice a day and I have gone to the grocery store during “senior hour.” Hope it never gets this bad.
