‘Do you know the closest living relative of the dinosaur is?’
Margarita sighed as little Nino stumbled through his favourite fact, delivered with glee every morning when they collected the eggs.
‘No, what is it?’ she played along.
‘The chicken!’ The boy laughed and started chasing after the group of hens in the yard, roaring like a T-Rex.
She smiled watching him. ‘Leave them alone, Nino,’ she called.
The sun peaked over the horizon. She blinked, taking in the warm rays.
Nino’s scream made her jump. She looked back and saw him fall, blood spraying from his jugular.
The chickens turned to look at her.
