SUE – IN MEMORIAM

It is absurd. She can’t be gone.

She wouldn’t want you to be angry, but there is anger.

She wouldn’t want sadness, but how can you stop the tears?

How do you fill the hole that has been left behind?

But we will always have her words, her joy and her inspiration.

And gratitude, for her smile we got to share.

Many of you will have been followers of fellow blogger Sue Vincent, who sadly passed away last week after a brave and typically pragmatic battle with cancer. She continued to write until the very end, sharing her favourite memories and charting her ups and downs. Personally, she was so supportive of my own blog and of my books, always willing to share guest posts and always inspiring with her writing prompts. I am relatively new to the blogging community, having ‘met’ Sue about 5 years ago, but she was one of the leading lights, who was there at the very start when this new thing called ‘blogging’ started, and her presence will be greatly missed, it will leave a huge hole in the blogging world. Others have written far better than I, but this is my little tribute to her. Wherever she is now, I hope she’s still smiling.

A lovely Tribute and a very beautiful use of the prompt lain. Sue’s loss topped off an incredibly absurd year. “she was one of the leading lights” a perfect description. 💜🦋

Thanks Jen, without Sue the writer’s blogs seem that bit quieter. So very sad.

        I’ve noticed that too, lain.
Some of my best stories were a result of her photos.
I look harder now for an inspiring photo prompt = less posts.
Luckily they do exist, but I miss Sue’s.

A heart-felt tribute. Sounds like she was a powerful voice of positivity. As I thought about it, your question “How do you fill the hole that has been left behind?” is answered with the next line. Memories of the person, what they’ve said and written.

The #writephoto prompt on a Thursday was the only thing I’ve found that comes close to Friday Fics.

I know quite a few people who participated in her #writephoto prompt. I never got around to it because… only so many challenges one can do!

    Dear Iain,

I only “knew” Sue as an occasional Friday Fictioneer. I’m sorry to hear of her passing. You wrote a lovely tribute to her.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

Thank you Rochelle. Her #writephoto prompts every Thursday were the only thing on a par with Friday Fictioneers for a regular prompt with a dedicated following.

I did not know her, but all deaths in the blogging community diminish us. I read some of the tributes on her blog. May her family and friends find peace in the coming days.

A beautiful tribute to Sue, Iain. I started blogging in October 2016 and Sue and Sally were the first two bloggers I met. Sue was amazing and inspirational and we had a lot in common with our love of British history and poetry. I also see and feel the hole.

This is a marvelous, exquisitely beautiful tribute, Iain. I’m always struck when we lose a blogger we’ve “known”, though may have not met in person. It’s amazing the connections we make with people here…almost scary good, because it hurts our hearts when they pass.
