INVASION

Forage duty. They try to tell you it’s a privilege, an honour. You’re special, a chosen one.

The truth is it’s dangerous. You’re expendable and you’re exposed.

Return empty-handed and you will be punished. That’s why I’m still out here as the light fails, still hunting.

They only come for us at night. It’s suicide to stay out this late, but what choice do I have?

It will be a relief when take me.

My only regret is leaving my love behind.

  1. You really conjure up the feeling of hopelessness and resignation here, Iain. I have chills running up my spine. Such an atmospheric piece.

  3. Great way to describe Invasion! It certainly lets me know exactly what the person feels about it.
