IAIN KELLY

SIGHTSEEING IN THAILAND

‘It’s not a race!’ called Somchai.

Lamai redoubled her efforts, breaking into as much of a sprint as she could muster while pulling the occupied rickshaw.

‘Watch out for the hole!’

She swerved in front of him, the rickshaw threatening to topple over. Somchai took evasive action to avoid careening into the back of her.

If this was the game, there was no way he would let his sister beat him. He threw himself forward. TheY arrived with a screech in a dead heat.

‘I won!’ Lamai shouted.

‘A draw!’ Somchai shouted.

Behind them, Archie and Agnes wobbled out of their seats unsteadily.

‘Next time, we walk,’ said Agnes. Archie nodded his agreement.

    Dear Iain,

A great race for the drivers but not so much for the passengers. 😉 Fun stuff.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

There was a movie, I think Foul Play, where Chevy Chase “steals” a cab for a chase scene through San Fransisco. Half way through they notice that an elderly couple is in the back seat… For some reason this reminds me of it.

Sounds exactly like the scene I have imagined!

After putting up the comment, I looked up the clip (yes, Foul Play), and the scene was as funny as I remembered.

Funny and very well written using the appropriate number of words (which is more than I can say for myself!) My apologies for that mistake.

This is hilarious. I can imagine the faces of Agnes and Archie as they stumble from their rickshaws. I look forward to reading your next book, Iain.
