‘It’s over.’
He tried to remain calm, speaking in an even and clear voice, no raised voices or dramatic gestures.
‘Typical!’
She yelled her reply, trying to elicit a reaction from him. This was the problem with their relationship – he was always so passionless, so clinical, so frigid.
‘Just keep cool.’
Over-the-top histrionics, letting her emotions get the better of her – it was why they could never talk about anything. It was why he had to end it.
‘I don’t need to cool down!’
She slapped him and pushed him. He fell down. She left him there, discarded.

Sometimes opposites aren’t meant to be together. She was fire and he was ice, yet this might just be from where the both are standing. They might not have read the other for what they really are. Nice take on the prompt, Iain.

I love this interpretation of the prompt, Iain. Opposites may attract but they don’t always work well together.

Wonderful use of words to tell us what that box is. I didn’t see it at all until I asked Rochelle, and then I wondered how I could possibly NOT have seen it 🙂

Excellent use of the prompt, Iain. Full of metaphors perfectly placed. Gee… wonder why they don’t fit together? 😉

Clever use of the prompt, Iain. I too didn’t realize that it was a fridge even after I read Trent’s story.

You do a great job of showing communication style mismatch with a couple. I think these two could benefit from marriage counseling. If they love each other, it is worth a try.

I agree with Plaridel, opposites do attract but they often drive each other crazy! =) Once the sting is gone, he’ll be glad. Great use of the prompt!

Sometimes a cold and unemotional person is hiding a great hurt. They might be a very good match, but only if he could face up to the possibility of change. For all his rationality, I think he finds her passion attractive.

I think so too, thank you Penny. He just has to learn how to respond to her better, and perhaps open himself up a little more.

It’s probably best they split before one of them ends up in the freezer!

They had to have had SOMETHING to be together. It wasn’t their outlook on life which is quite noticeable. Maybe they met at a masked ball.

I know, Fridge’s today … they’re so … well … frigid. Not like once of old, which would need to be thawed out once in a while … 😉

Oh my … I’m sure I’ll be repeating someone’s comment but – WOW – she’s a feisty one.
Perhaps, it’s best they go their separate ways. After all, a slap can turn into a whole lot more eventually; then, jail. Great intro to an enticing story, Iain. Have a safe weekend …
