HE NEVER LEFT

Heading downtown, with a one way ticket out of here. Nothing left for me in this one-horse town. It’s time to go and find my fortune elsewhere. This is my destiny.

‘Yo, Mikey!’

Who’s that at the window? Julie? Man, she is hot, even in tracksuit bottoms and wet hair.

‘Hey, Julie.’

‘Where you headin’?’

‘Nowhere.’

‘You be at Finky’s on Friday night?’

Her sweet freshly-washed scent wafts down. I see her blossoming through the years we have known each other. I feel that eternal hope she might feel the same way about me.

‘Sure.’

‘See you there.’

‘Definitely.’

New destiny. I’ll hang around this one-horse town a week longer.

  1. Destiny is so much more plastic than it used to be in the days of Homer. Nice one, Iain

The town might have only one horse, but it also has that one special girl. Nice.
