IAIN KELLY

CLIMAX

He was close. The big moment was coming.

They were covered in sweat, exhausted after two hours of constant exertion – it would all be worth it for the exultation that he was building up to.

He smiled at her and took in the scene, never wanting to forget it.

She looked back in wonder, puzzled at his brief hiatus from action.

The crowd parted around them, he took the ring from his pocket, glad that it had remained safe throughout the raucous concert.

‘Jolene, will you mar…’

Fireworks exploded, the mass jumped as one, she turned away, lost in her own passion. The ring disappeared.

Once again, he had mistimed the big climax.

They’ll look back one day and laugh at this. Though maybe not together

There’s only so much mistiming she will stand for. Thanks Neil

Me feels a wee innuendo in this story. Maybe he’ll find the ring? But a day late and a dollar short. Seems he might not be the sharpest pencil in the box.

A total tease…the question is, did he ever tell her he lost the ring?

Thanks Dawn, I’ve enjoyed them too – those that get the innuendo, those that maybe get it but aren’t going to say anything, and the one or two that have clearly let it fly right over their heads! 🙂

Oops. Did he ever time it right with a new ring, or did he miraculously find the original one and propose after the concert? Did she say yes? Nicely done. Alana ramblinwitham
