IAIN KELLY

INTERVENTION

Moonlight glinted off her pale body. The time for sacrifice was upon them. She squirmed and pulled against the ropes that bound her wrists and ankles.

A chant was intoned around her by the hooded wraith-like figures, gradually increasing in volume and intensity. The leader of the group, marked by his impressive horned headpiece stepped forward. He raised the jewel-encrusted dagger.

Just as he was about to plunge it into her exposed breast, our hero leapt from behind the wall which had hidden him and…

‘Archie, will you stop daydreaming and keep up. The guide is moving on.’

Archie sighed.

But history is so much more interesting! The tour guide can’t have been very good. Still, I daresay Archie’s wife is enjoying it.

Great twist at the end. I was drawn into the description. You got me. Perhaps Archie could suggest some role play later assuming that was a wife or girlfriend who pulled him from his reverie.
