DESERT GLAMPING

Archie dug his toes into the sand, relaxing in his reclining chair.

From the tepee he heard Agnes clattering about. She stumbled out.

‘You said you wanted a holiday with plenty of sun and sand.’ He didn’t open his eyes as she slumped into the chair next to him.

‘Don’t feign innocence. You knew what I meant and you know I hate camping.’

‘This isn’t camping dear, it’s desert glamping.’

Agnes reached over and jerked the catch on his chair. It collapsed in a heap, with Archie sprawled on top of it.

‘Feeling glamorous yet?’ she asked, as Archie spat out a mouthful of sand.

  7. Great take on the prompt,Iain. I spent a few hours tonight researching Native Americans trying to work out an angle. I found it very difficult but got the in the end. Well, at least I posted 99 words.
My kids have recently returned from the Australian Scouting Jamboree down at Tailum Bend in South Australia, which could be renamed “Dust Central”. It’s got into everything. It’s been the big postscript topic of conversation.

    1. I find it hard to believe any sort of camping can be made glamorous, even just by changing it’s name to glamping!
